Alberto Rabagliati – “Ba-Ba-Baciami piccina”

Alberto Rabagliati - Ba-ba-baciami piccina

Alberto Rabagliati (1906-1974) was an actor and singer from Italy. Born in Milan, spent four years in Hollywood in the late 1920s. Back to Italy, became a full-time singer and one of the most popular radio personalities in Italy.

He had absorbed some jazz/swing from his time in the USA, and was able to bring back that kind of sound and singing, in his performances for Italian audiences. He was so popular that despite his musical style was clearly influenced by American musicians, the fascist regime tolerated him and even used one of his songs for a demographic campaign.

He was active as a stage performer and again movie actor during the 1950s and 1960s. He passed away in 1974: his final tv appearance was broadcasted posthumously.

“Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina” (“k-k-kiss me baby”) was one of his greatest hits, with lyrics by Riccardo Morbelli and music by Luigi Astore. As “Botch-a-me”, became also a hit in the US in a version sung by Rosemary Clooney, about 12 years after the original release.
