Cathy K & The Divinity – “Heartache in the Sky”

Cathy K è attiva come DJ da ben tredici anni e come produttrice da quattro. Il suo lavoro incorpora elementi house, tech house, afro house e progressive house e si esibisce nei più frequentati club ed eventi a fianco di DJ sia maltesi che internazionali.
Nel tempo libero compone musica in studio. Il suo stile include suoni di ogni genere ma la sua passione principale consiste nel creare ritmi con elementi etnici ed in particolare percussioni africane. Produrre è una forma di terapia: Cathy ama perdersi nella musica per sentire appieno le emozioni che le scorrono dentro.
Nel 2018, con “Mohabbat” (su Conjured Records) è entrata nelle classifiche degli store specializzati in dance ed elettronica come Traxsource e Beatport.

The Divinity è un’autodidatta che ama suonare vari strumenti ma si concentra perlopiù sul basso. Grazie all’aiuto di Cathy K sta inoltre affinando le capacità come produttrice. Il suo obiettivo artistico primario consiste nello scrivere testi, tra cui quelli delle produzioni del duo, ispirati da vari generi, tra cui metal, punk, blues, musica classica e rap, di volta in volta romantici o dark, in base alle necessità.
La sperimentazione è un elemento fondamentale e la sua musica punta ad essere qualcosa di fuori dal comune.

Cathy K has been djing for the past 13 years and producing for the past 4 years. She incorporates styles such as house, tech house, afro house and progressive house and she plays in the most frequented clubs and events alongside top Maltese and foreign DJs.
In her free time she spends time at the studio making music, her productive style incorporates various sounds however her main passion is creating various rhythms with ethnic and African percussion sounds. For her, producing is her therapy since she loves getting lost in music to feel the joyful emotions that stir into her chest.
In 2018, with “Mohabbat” (on Conjured Records) she has charted on specialized dance/electronic stores such as Traxsource and Beatport.

The Divinity has an amateur background in music, trying her hand at many instruments but mostly focusing on playing the bass. With the aid of Cathy K she is also progressing in learning production techniques while providing ideas and suggestions. However her main artistic expression comes with writing lyrics for music of any kind including for her work in this Duo. Inspired by metal, punk, blues, classical, rap and other variety of music her lyrics are bound to be either romantic or dark depending on the muse and necessities for tracks she works on. Experimentation is key for her and her music is bound to be something out of the ordinary.
