Swedish actress Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg – better known as Anita Ekberg – one of Federico Fellini‘s muses and the iconic personification of “La Dolce Vita“, passed away today in Rocca di Papa, near Rome, where she was hospitalized. She lived in Italy for several years.

After winning the title of Miss Sweden in 1950, Ekberg started a film career in Hollywood and later in Italy, appearing in titles such as “War and Peace”, “Artists and Models, “Hollywood or Bust”, “Boccaccio ’70” working with names such as Jerry Lewis, Sophia Loren, Bob Hope, Marcello Mastroianni, Mel Ferrer, Audrey Hepburn. Fellini wanted her in more movies such as “I Clowns” and “Intervista”. She even starred in cult exploitation movie “Killer Nun“.

Kutmusic tributes her by reposting the playlist for “La Dolce Vita Souvenir“, collecting highlights from the Nino Rota soundtrack conducted by Franco Ferrara, with appearances by Adriano Celentano & I Campanino and spoken excerpts by Anita Ekberg herself with Marcello Mastroianni, followed by “Toujours l’Amore” by Dimitri from Paris, which also sampled some one of Anita’s unforgettable dialogues from “La Dolce Vita“.
