| La musica così detta underground, libera dagli schemi canonici e furbi del mercato, sempre schietta e urgente, spesso scritta per motivi intimamente personali, a volte inconsapevole del proprio valore, eppure orgogliosa, svergognata e pigra e pura e ancora sorprendente, scandalosa e bestemmiante e romanticamente disperata. Non è un segreto che molto spesso questa musica faccia da battistrada a interi fenomeni musicali che presto diventano movimenti culturali, inclinazioni estetiche, poetiche dominanti. Dove questa musica viene generata, i luoghi ingrati, i suoi squattrinati fabbricanti, le fucine sonore, le mille start-up delle 7 note in cui non si vuole investire perché nessuno vuole rischiare e perché mancano occhi e orecchie per riconoscere il talento e il coraggio, lì, proprio lì tra le macerie italiane di una comunità resiliente e fiera, potresti spiare cosa sta veramente succedendo alla musica. In questa compilation, a dispetto della tendenza attuale dell’industria discografica che deve categorizzare, etichettare e sottoporre tutto a precisi algoritmi, abbiamo volutamente messo insieme tante ispirazioni diverse, colori e temperature differenti perché quando ammiri un panorama non decidi tu cosa vuoi vedere e cosa non vuoi vedere. Certo, è solo un piccolo spaccato ma a noi non interessava seguire un mood, una monografia, uno stile. Bring ‘em all in, cantava Mike Scott qualche anno fa e noi abbiamo seguito il suo avviso. Una cosa è certa: sarà impossibile creare un algoritmo su queste “macerie“. E la cosa mi rallegra come poche altre in questo momento. The so-called underground music, free from the sly, canonical patterns of the music market, always sincere and immediate, often written for intimately personal reasons, sometimes unaware of its own value, yet proud, shameless and lazy and pure and still surprising, scandalous, blasphemous and romantically desperate. It is not a secret that very often this kind of music music acts as a trailblazer to entire musical phenomena that soon become cultural movements, aesthetic inclinations, dominant poetics. Where this music is generated – the ungrateful places, its penniless manufacturers, the sound forges, the thousand start-ups of the 7 notes in which you do not want to invest because no one wants risk and because they lack eyes and ears to recognize talent and courage – there, right there among the Italian ruins of a resilient and proud community, you could spy on what’s really happening to music. In this compilation, despite the current trend of the music industry that must categorize, label and refer everything to precise algorithms, we have deliberately put together many different inspirations, colors and temperatures because when you’re admiring a landscape, you do not decide about what you want to see and what you don’t want to see. Certainly it’s just a small cross section, but we did not aim at following a mood, a monograph, or a style. Bring ’em all in – as Mike Scott sang a few years ago -and we followed his notice. One thing is certain: creating an algorithm based on these “ruins” will be impossible. And that pleases me as little else could do at this time.
