Nilla Pizzi – “L’edera – Original & Remixed”

Nilla Pizzi - L'edera

Nilla Pizzi (Adionilla Negrini Pizzi, 1919-2011) is a legendary voice in Italian popular music.
With a career spanning for several decades, since the beginning of the 1940s, Pizzi was noted by Italian national radio winning a competition for broadcaster EIAR, and recorded for many labels such as Parlophon, Cetra and La Voce del Padrone. “Grazie dei fiori”, in 1951, brought her to victory in the first edition of the Sanremo Festival and sold well as a 78 RPM.
“L’Edera” was presented to the Sanremo Festival in 1958 (2nd placement) and won “Canzonissima” in 1959. Sung by different performers and in other languages, the song was translated as “The Dawn of Love” and “La Hiedra”.
Nilla Pizzi died at 91, on March 12, 2011. She had started work on an album in 2010, but wasn’t able to complete it.
A “big beat” tribute remix of “L’Edera” was completed by Dj Batman a few hours after the sad news of Pizzi’s death were released.
