| Tra fine anni ’50 e inizio anni ’60 alcune piccole etichette come la Vesuvius (che vantava comunque la distribuzione della prestigiosa MGM) pubblicavano dischi italiani per il mercato statunitense. A volte, invece di ristampare semplicemente su licenza dischi di artisti già affermati come Mina, realizzavano pubblicazioni dirette solo a quel mercato: direttamente dal 1962, ecco il Quintetto Vesuvio che nell’omonimo album presenta 12 brani di successo del repertorio napoletano e non solo, da “Scugnizzo” a “Scapricciatiello”, da “Ciento Strade” (successo di Peppino Di Capri del 1961) a “Tintarella di Luna”. |
Between the late 1950s and the early 1960s, some small labels such as Vesuvius (which however had distribution via the prestigious MGM) used to release Italian records for the US market. Sometimes, instead of simply licensing and repressing records from established artists such as Mina, they created releases aimed only at the American markets: straight from 1962, here is Quintetto Vesuvio showcasing 12 hits in their eponymous album, mostly chosen among Neapolitan hit songs, from “Scugnizzo” to “Scapricciatiello”, from “Ciento Strade” (a 1961 hit for Peppino Di Capri) and “Tintarella di Luna”. |
