Samsa Dilemma – “21 November 2018”

Una canzone scritta inizialmente per la sfera privata, per un amico che non c’è più. Andato via come un soffio.
Il giorno successivo alla perdita è di incredulità. Il secondo di angoscia. Nel corso del terzo passo davanti alla vecchia chitarra classica. Il bisogno di coraggio mi spinge ad afferrarla e a lasciare andare le dita dove vogliono. Le parole sono quelle di quel 21 Novembre pomeriggio. Chiamo Enrico, per la prima volta non sono intimidito dallo spessore del musicista: “Mi serve la tua arte, devi aiutarmi a realizzare questa cosa”. Lui si dice onorato.
La musica è un riflesso inconsistente, un’immagine effimera ma preziosa come nient’altro quando l’anima fa male.

This is a song originally written only for the private sphere, for a friend who is not with us anymore. Gone like a whiff of air.
The day after the loss is one filled with disbelief. Day two is with anguish. During the third day I stumble upon my old classical guitar. The need for courage leads me to grab it and let my fingers go where they want. The words are those from that afternoon of November, 21st. I call Enrico, and for the first time I am not intimidated by his considerable musicianship: “I need your art, you have to help me accomplish this”. He says he’s honoured.
Music is like an inconsistent reflection, an ephemeral image – but precious as nothing else when the soul hurts.
