| Anticipato dal singolo “21 November 2018” ecco il secondo lavoro dei Samsa Dilemma, in cui la band riprende il discorso kafkiano iniziato più di tre anni fa in “Wake Up Gregor!!” dichiarando che «l’insetto Gregor è sceso dal letto, è uscito in strada, vi parla, vi urla contro, vi racconta le sue pene e vi prende anche un po’ in giro mentre gli passate vicino un po’ distratti. Su tutto l’album aleggia una sensazione di ‘tempus fugit’, di una lotta quotidiana per succhiare il buono della vita».
Nel frattempo il duo Riccardo Pro (voci, chitarra, basso e armonica)/Daniel Sartori (chitarra, percussioni) si è trasformato ufficialmente in un quartetto, con l’aggiunta del batterista Fabrizio Keller prima, e del bassista Fausto Postinghel poi. L’apporto del nuovo duo ritmico è risulta assolutamente funzionale allo sviluppo della musica e alcuni temi presenti nel disco sono risultato di improvvisazione e scrittura dell’intera band. Le dodici tracce di “Everyday Struggle” vedono ancora una volta Marco Ober nelle vesti di ingegnere del suono e la partecipazione di Enrico Merlin alle chitarre e Vanessa Cremaschi al violino, a cui si aggiungono Chiara Morstabilini alla viola e Paolo Trettel al flicorno. Il risultato è un disco «capace di dire cose drammatiche, nichiliste e terribili usando degli uptempo saltellanti, accordi serenamente maggiori, voci smooth & cool, interventi di (apparente) spensieratezza, arrangiamenti senza fronzoli». |
Preceded by the single “21 November 2018”, “Everyday Struggle” is the second release by Samsa Dilemma, in which the band expands upon the kafkian theme started three years ago in “Wake Up Gregor!!”. This time «Gregor the insect has crawled down from the bed, is in the street, speaking, screaming, and telling his pains and even making fun of you while you giro while you pass by, a little distracted» and «on the whole album hovers a feeling of ‘tempus fugit’, an everyday struggle to draw what’s good in life».
In the meantime the founding duo Riccardo Pro (vocals, guitar, bass harmonica)/Daniel Sartori (guitar, percussion) has officially become a quartet, with the addition of drummer Fabrizio Keller and bass player Fausto Postinghel. The new rhythmic section has also been instrumental in developing some of the album’s themes, which are the product of group improvisation and writing. The twelve tracks “Everyday Struggle” see once again Marco Ober as the sound engineer and the collaboration of guitarist Enrico Merlin and violinist Vanessa Cremaschi. They are joined by violist Chiara Morstabilini and flugelhornist Paolo Trettel. The result is an album that «can state dramatic, nihilistic and terrible things through hopping uptempos, blissful major chords, smooth & cool vocals, (apparently) carefree moments and no frills arrangements». |
