Before signing with Atlantic in 1960, a young guy named Solomon Burke had composed a Christmas song for his grandmother. It was December 1954 (and the song was recorded one year later, and released in 1956).
Burke went on recording on the Apollo label for a few years, both under his name and as “Little Vincent”, before moving to the Atlantic label in 1960, where he quickly had a string of hits and gained the title of “King of Rock & Soul”.
