Il jazz italiano ormai non è più un segreto. Tutto ebbe inizio nei primi anni del ‘900, quando l’ondata rivoluzionaria del nuovo ritmo sincopato raggiunse anche la penisola italiana affascinando e trasportando i musicisti più attenti in un nuovo universo musicale dal carattere unico.
Gli anni ’30 furono un momento di grande svolta per il “movimento”: nacquero le prime jazz band e crebbero i consensi da parte del pubblico che approcciava con grande entusiasmo al nuovo sound.
Nonostante il duro colpo inferto dalle leggi razziali imposte dal fascismo, il jazz in Italia continuò a diffondersi e proprio in quei giorni drammatici nacquero le prime importanti etichette discografiche dedicate al ritmo sincopato. Con la fine della guerra, le formazioni jazz iniziarono a moltiplicarsi e il vecchio stile jazz e swing lasciò ben presto spazio alle nuove contaminazioni del modern jazz. Iniziarono a spuntare in tutta Italia i primi jazz club ed i primi importanti festival e il jazz approdò anche al cinema e in televisione mescolandosi alla quotidianità degli italiani.
Sincopato Gentlemen racconta attraverso una selezione di preziosi e rari brani, una storia in bianco e nero, la storia di quelle eleganti silhouettes in smoking che aiutarono l’Italia a dimenticare la guerra.

Italian jazz is no longer a secret. It all began in the early 1900s, when the revolutionary wave of the new syncopated rhythm also reached the Italian peninsula, fascinating and transporting the most attentive musicians into a new musical universe with a unique characterization.
The ’30s marked the great turning point for the “movement”: the first jazz bands were born and the audiences approached and embraced the new sound with growing enthusiasm.
Despite the severe blow inflicted by the racial laws imposed by fascism, jazz in Italy continued to spread and in those dramatic days the first important record labels dedicated to syncopated rhythm were born. At the end of the war, jazz formations began to multiply and the old jazz and swing style soon gave way to the new contaminations of modern jazz. The first jazz clubs and the first important festivals began to appear throughout Italy and jazz also landed in movies and television, mixing with the everyday life of Italians.
Sincopato Gentlemen tells a black-and-white tale, through a selection of precious and rare tracks: the story of those elegant silhouettes in tuxedos, who helped Italy forget the war years.
