Alessandro Spina – “Se Si Vota Più”

La frase che si sente spesso in giro: “Ma che ci vado a fare a votare? Tanto non cambierà niente. Sono tutti uguali!” Da questo pensiero nasce il nuovo brano di Alessandro Spina, dal titolo “Se si Vota più”. L’autore parte dalla constatazione che “l’esercizio del voto viene qualificato come un dovere civico ma di fatto il partito dell’astensionismo sta diventando quasi sempre il primo partito in Italia, in quanto false promesse e illusioni hanno allontanato la gente dalla politica, dove in essa non trova più la vera alternativa al cambiamento”.
Spina continua: “Se da una parte è comprensibile l’atteggiamento di sfiducia verso la politica visti gli ultimi decenni vissuti, che dovrebbe far meditare ogni singolo esponente politico, dall’altra non bisogna lamentarsi se le cose non vanno bene quando in realtà non abbiamo esercitato un diritto che potevamo esercitare. Se ci venisse impedito di votare come reagiremo? Quindi se da una parte questa canzone di reportage mette in luce la situazione in atto, dall’altra deve farci riflettere sul fatto che in parte la possibilità di invertire la tendenza può dipendere anche dagli aventi diritto al voto”.

There’s a saying going around: “Why should I vote? Nothing will change anyway. They’re all the same!” This thought is the inspiration behind Alessandro Spina’s new song, titled “Se si Vota Più” (If people vote more). The author starts with the observation that “the exercise of voting is qualified as a civic duty but it’s a fact that abstentionism is almost always the first party in Italy, as false promises and illusions have distanced people from politics, and no one longer finds a true alternative to change things”.
Spina continues: “If on one hand the attitude of distrusting politics is understandable, given what’s happened in the last decades (and this should make every single politician reflect), on the other hand we shouldn’t complain if things aren’t going well when in reality we haven’t exercised our rights. Also: how would we react if we were prevented from voting? Thus, this reportage-song highlights the current situation, but also tries to make us think about the fact that, at least in part, only those who have the right to vote have a chance of reversing the current trend.”
