| Frans Bayezt (1914-2005), trombonista e direttore d’orchestra belga, ha avuto una lunga carriera dagli anni ’50 al 1980, alla guida di orchestre e big band come Francis Bay, lavorando allo stesso tempo come arrangiatore per programmi radio e tv e direttore di festival musicali. In più occasioni ha diretto l’orchestra dell’Eurovisione, accompagnando diversi artisti del suo paese, e ha raggiunto forse il periodo di maggior successo con come uno dei performer in cartellone durante l’Expo 1958 di Bruxelles. Lo stesso anno, Francis Bay collezionò anche numerose apparizioni radiofoniche e televisive e incise ben 22 album. “Bandleaders: The Swinging Years” arriva direttamente da quel periodo: una raccolta di successi jazz e latini – ed un tributo agli interpreti originali come Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Perez Prado ed altri – eseguiti impeccabilmente da Francis Bay e la sua Big Band. |
Frans Bayezt (1914-2005), trombonist and band leader from Belgium had a long career since the 1950s until 1980, leading big bands and orchestras as Francis Bay, also working as arranger for radio and television and directing music festivals. He led the Eurovision orchestra accompanying different Belgian artists, but one of his highest moments was performing regularly during the 1958 Expo in Bruxelles. That year, Francis Bay also did regular radio and tv appearances and recorded 22 albums. “Bandleaders: The Swinging Years” comes directly from that era: a collection of jazz and latin hits – tributing the original performers such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Perez Prado and others – flawlessly performed by Francis Bay and His Big Band. |
